How do you test for bias, and what did the testing find?

Current as of July 2026.
A model answer
We run bias and fairness evaluation on [system] against [defined groups], using [method], on a [cadence] cadence. The most recent assessment found [result], and the mitigations applied are [x]. Where a disparity remains, it is recorded, owned and accepted with rationale rather than left undocumented. Assessment records are available under NDA.

Evidence a buyer expects

An actual assessment with results — including uncomfortable ones — and what was done about them. A cadence, not a one-off.

Why weak answers fail

"We test for bias" with no method, no cadence and no result is not an answer. And a result that reports no disparity at all, with no method disclosed, reads as a test designed to pass.

What Hael produces

Hael's Bias Assessment (EU AI Act Articles 10 and 15, NIST MEASURE): the evaluation, the results, the mitigations and the residual-risk acceptance — sealed and owned.
