WHAT THE ROLE COVERS
The Fractional AI Governance Officer holds the AI governance mandate on your behalf. They chair the AI governance forum, sign off risk and impact assessments, approve material changes to the AI inventory and represent the position to customers, auditors and regulators.
The role is designed to sit within your organisation, report into an agreed executive and remain independent of any certification body, audit firm or software vendor.
A single Hael practitioner is your AI Governance Officer of record, with an agreed reporting line and delegated authority.
AI governance forum, risk reviews, control testing, management reporting and change approvals delivered to an agreed cadence.
The practitioner defends the position in customer security reviews, auditor interviews, board reporting and regulatory engagement.
HOW WE WORK
Most organisations do not need a permanent AI Governance Officer, but they do need someone who owns the position and can speak for it to a board, an auditor, a regulator or a customer's security team. We supply that person, alongside the platform and delivery capacity that make the role effective.
OUR APPROACH
The Fractional AI Governance Officer is scoped to the organisation and the AI estate. Below the named practitioner sits Hael's delivery capacity and the platform that holds the record. The engagement stays consistent across framework, buyer and regulatory activity.
We establish the AI Governance Officer mandate, reporting line, delegated authority and interfaces with legal, risk, security, product, engineering and procurement.
The Officer then takes ownership of the AI inventory, the risk and impact register, the control framework and the evidence estate.
The Officer chairs the AI governance forum, signs off risk and impact assessments, approves material changes to the inventory, oversees testing and monitoring, and reports to the agreed executive.
Each meeting, decision and approval is recorded against the underlying systems, controls and evidence.
The Officer represents the AI governance position to enterprise customers, certification bodies, auditors, regulators and the board.
Because the same practitioner is inside the engagement, external answers are consistent with what is actually happening on the ground.
INDEPENDENCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY
The Fractional AI Governance Officer is a specific person, agreed at the start of the engagement, backed by a nominated deputy. That practitioner remains accountable for the role for the duration of the retainer.
Hael does not take commission from certification bodies, audit firms or software vendors. The Officer's advice is not shaped by anyone else's fee.
Accountability under law and contract remains with your organisation. The Officer holds the mandate, exercises the judgement and stands behind it, within the scope agreed with your executive.
PLANNING THE RETAINER
The retainer is sized around the AI estate, the frameworks in scope, the enterprise buyer commitments in place and the governance cadence you require. It is renewable, and it can be scaled up or down as the estate changes.
We agree the named practitioner, deputy, reporting line, delegated authority, meeting cadence, deliverables and fee in writing before the retainer starts.
Where an existing internal owner is already in place, the Fractional AI Governance Officer can be positioned as their fractional deputy, or as an outsourced replacement, depending on what your organisation needs.
CONNECTED SERVICES
Build the operating model that the Fractional AI Governance Officer will then own.
Obtain independent assurance over the governance the Officer maintains.
Prepare the management system and evidence for ISO/IEC 42001, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 assessment.
Give the Officer the answer library and evidence needed to defend enterprise reviews.
